James Lee Wahlenmaier

Jim L. Wahlenmaier, 55, of Abilene passed away on September 1, 2017 in Midland, Texas.

Visitation will be Monday, September 4, 2017 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, from 6-8pm.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Beltway Park Church, South Campus, with Brandon Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home.

Jim was born in Lubbock, Texas on April 19, 1962. His parents were Shirley and Ed Wahlenmaier (and also Jim Barker). He graduated from Abilene High School in 1980 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Hardin Simmons University in 1986. He married Lessa McKee on June 8, 2011. He worked as General Manager of Blackmon and Mooring Company in Midland. He was an avid announcer of barrel races as well as leading the church service at the barrel races, and hobbies included horses, golf, piano, and he never knew a stranger.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Ed Wahlenmaier.

Jim is survived by his wife Lessa Wahlenmaier, his children, Steven Wahlenmaier and Ashton and Ben Baggi, as well as daughters Lacey and James Clawson, Kandise and Chris Willingham, his brother Ed and Tammy Wahlenmaier, his sister Vicki Wahlenmaier, and his mother Shirley Wahlenmaier as well as Jim Barker and two sisters Leslie Barker and Kandy Hoinamykle. His grandchildren are Tatum, Ryder, Lilly, and Aspen. His niece and nephew Jake and Emily Wahlenmaier as well as many other friends and family.

Pallbearers will be Shad Connoly, Martin Clifton, James Earls, Joey Faziolli, Tom Head, and Daryl Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Baggi, James Clawson, Jay Hart, Charley Johnson, Chick Wilfong, and Chris Willingham.
