James Robert Prater

James Robert Prater, 40, also lovingly known as Jim Bob, passed away Friday, September 2, 2022, at his home. James was an avid fisherman and Cowboy’s fan, but what he loved above all else was his family.

James married Kimberly Norman in October of 2017. He said he’d never been more sure about anything in his life and he’d never loved someone as much as he loved her.  Their blended family included his daughter Mariyah and her daughter Kaitlyn. Though their time was short, it was full of love.

James is welcomed to Heaven by his Granny Alma Payne, Grandpa Payne, paternal grandparents, Robert and June Prater, and his mother-in-law Shirley Sanchez.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Kimberly, daughters Mariyah and fiancée Jordan, Kaitlyn Murphy; parents; Tony Michael-Lee Prater and wife Susan of Godley, Judy Prater and husband Tony Rodriguez of Forrest Hill; siblings, Rusty Michael Prater and wife Erika of Fort Worth, Justin Prater and wife Kayla of Grand Prairie, Tony Prater, Jr. and Wife Marisol of Forrest Hill, Alexandria Caldwell and husband Jubel of Fort Worth; step-sister, Kasi Miller and husband James; step-brother, Jackey Underwood and wife Cimin, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

The family will be planning a private celebration of life at a later date.
