Jim Pingleton, 68, died Tuesday, October 17, 2006 in Abilene. A visitation is scheduled for family and friends on Thursday, October 19 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Memorial services will be on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church with Rev. Tony Salisbury and Dr. Chris Diebel officiating. There will be a private graveside for family.
September 8, 1938, Jim was born to James and Milfred Ruth (Williams) Pingleton in Haileyville, Oklahoma. He married Virginia Curtice in Fort Worth, Texas on September 24, 1965.
Jim and his wife Virginia moved to Abilene in 1997 from El Campo, Texas. He served in the National Guard and was a Disciples of Christ minister. Jim was a member of First Christian Church (Diciples of Christ) in Abilene.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ronald T. Pingleton. He is survived by his wife Virginia Pingleton of Abilene; his daughter, Rhonda Bowman and her husband David of Snyder, Texas; his brother, Herb Pingleton of Kansas City, Kansas; two sisters, Jo Ann O'Hara of Clarkston, Washington and Mary Hernandez of McAlester, Oklahoma; sister-in-law and her husband Mr. and Mrs. Quinton Craft, and sister-in-law Darlene Curtice; four grandsons, Lance Seeding and his wife April, Spencer Seeding and his wife Katherine, Zachary and Jake Bowman and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Christian Church Foundation "Jim Pingleton Fund", P.O. Box 1986, Indianapolis, Indiana 46206, to aide and assist ministerial relief.
