Jimmy Nicholls, 69, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at a local hospital. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 13. 2006 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday in the funeral home chapel. Lance Voorhees will officiate. Cremation will follow the funeral service.
Jimmy was born on July 8, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to James Phillip Nicholls and Elizabeth (Sommers) Nicholls. He graduated from Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas were he received his bachelor's degree in music. Jimmy married Virginia Post in 1966. The couple was married in Edinburg. He lived in McAllen before moving to Abilene in January 2003. He was co-owner of Sommers Sheet Metal and also owned a recording business in McAllen.
Jimmy loved music. Among his favorites were Jazz, Mambo and Latin. His other hobbies included collecting stamps, coins, arrowheads and other miscellaneous items.
Both of Jimmy's parents preceded him in death. He survived by his wife, Virginia of Abilene; two sons, James Nicholls and his wife Sandra, of Abilene, Rob Nicholls and his wife Hilda of Lincoln Park, Michigan; one sister, Carole Haldiman and her husband Larry; and four grandchildren, Bobby Nicholls, Victory Fuentes, Bianca Nicholls, and James Alex Nicholls. He is also survived by his favorite daytime companion, "Samantha", his beloved basset hound.
