James Austin Morgan

James “Jim” Morgan, 85, of Abilene, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 at his residence.  Visitation will be 3:00 to 4:30 P.M. Sunday, May 21st at The Hamil Family Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 22, 2017 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home With Chris McCurley officiating.  Burial will follow at the Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. 

Jim was born in Abilene to J. Austin and Jewell Morgan on July 10, 1931.  He graduated from Wylie High School in 1950.  He married Nell Stallcup on June 15, 1951 in Abilene.  He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1991 after 41 years of service. Jim served 8 years in the Texas National Guard.  He was a member of the Oldham Lane Church of Christ. 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Bobby Morgan and son-in-law; Phillip Saunders III. 

Jim is survived by his wife Nell Morgan of Abilene, son; Mike Morgan and wife Marjorie of Dripping Springs.  One daughter; Kathy Saunders of Clyde.  Brothers; Harry Morgan and wife Pam; & Larry Morgan and wife Georgia, both of Normangee, TX.  Sister; Billie Jean Boren of Ft. Worth.  Four grandchildren; John Morgan of Allen, TX, Amy Saunders of Clyde, Pete Saunders of Baird & James Saunders of Uvalde.  Four Great-grandchildren; Michael Morgan, P.J. Saunders, Kaitlynn Saunders & Augustina Saunders. He is also survived by  several nieces, nephews and cousins.
