James A. Hodges, 74, of Clyde passed away on September 26, 2016 in Clyde, Texas.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm Thursday, September 29 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home in Abilene, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 30th at the Coleman City Cemetery in Coleman, Texas with Brother Bob Cheatheam of Abilene officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
James was born in Brady, Texas to J.P. and Faye Bryan Hodges on April 20, 1942. He grew up in Rockwood and attended school in Rockwood and Santa Anna, Texas. He married Carol Wester on October 29, 1966 in Coleman, Texas. He worked as an electrical lineman/foreman for WTU/AEP electric company in Abilene for 38 years. He served in the Texas National Guard for 6 years. He was active in the Clyde Junior Livestock Association and served on the board of the Callahan County Junior Livestock Association. He was a member of the West Texas Hereford Association and was a strong supporter of the Callahan County 4-H clubs.
James was preceded in death by his father J.P. Hodges, mother Faye Hodges, brother Bryan Hodges, and sister Wanda McIver.
James is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Hodges, his son Cody Hodges and his wife Katie Hodges of Clyde, and his grandson Laramie Hodges of Clyde. He is also survived by 2 sister-in-laws, 2 brother-in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts.
Pallbearers will be Cody Walton, Wyatt Walton, Tyson Broadfoot, Jeremy Franke, Doug Widener, and Philip Whitlock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Texas Scottish Rites Hospital, American Lung Association, or a charity of your choice.
