James Alfred Griffith

James Alfred Griffith, 81, of Abilene, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, in Abilene.

 Visitation will be Sunday November 3, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.

 Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. Daniel Green of Abilene officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene.

 James Alfred Griffith was born to Monas E. and Katie Lee Griffith in Sinton, Texas in 1943. He graduated from Trent High School and Hardin Simmons University and went on to teach and coach football for over 25 years. James married Mary Alice Byrd and together they had a daughter Jamie Marie Griffith. He established Reunion Realty in Abilene and was a Real Estate Broker for over 40 years. James was a founder of the non-profit Retired Killers Reunion and Wild Game Feast which ran for over 20 years and donated all proceeds to the Ben Ritchie Boys Ranch. 

 In 2005, James married the love of his life Gaye Morris in Abilene. They lived and loved until her passing in 2011. 

 James was preceded in death by his parents, Monas E. and Katie Lee Griffith; his wife Gaye Morris Griffith; brothers John, Calvin and Ervin Griffith; sisters, Betty Underwood and Anna Talent. 

 James is survived by daughter Jamie Campbell and husband Stephen Campbell of Winters; sisters, Glenda Collier of Abilene, Linda Stagner and husband Kelvin of Abilene; grandson, Caleb Campbell of Winters. James is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. 

 Pallbearers will be Michael Malone, Marvin Powers, Robert Seago, Doug Collier, Robert McCoy, Jimmy Dale Robertson, Jackie Lynn Moses and Joe Olvera.
