James Lawrence Cross died peacefully at home on December 30, 2007, surrounded by his loved ones. Graveside services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at the Throckmorton Cemetery, with Rev. Penny Biddy officiating. Viewing will be on Wednesday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Following the graveside service on Thursday, the family will receive friends at 2:00 pm at their home.
Jim was born in Quanah, Texas on February 26, 1923 to Warde and Exa Cross. He served in the Navy during WWII participating in the major invasions, including Normandy. After combat, he graduated from North Texas in Denton, where he met and married his life's companion of 61 years, Annelia Howsley Cross. Jim spent his career as a sales manager for Wyeth Laboratories. Upon retirement, he was able to pursue his real passion-GOLF.
He was preceded in death by his grandson David Cross McClellan. Jim is survived by his wife Anne and daughters Sharon Heldenbrand and husband Lonnie of Fort Worth, by Debbie McClellan of San Antonio, and Vikki and Harry Jones of Dallas. He leaves 2 grandsons and their wives, 2 step-granddaughters and four great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
