James Leroy Copeland

James Leroy Copeland, 80, died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Windcrest Alzheimers Care Center in Abilene, Texas. Born in Altoona, Alabama, on April 6, 1929, James was the son of Osie (Burton) and Oscar S. Copeland. He was a U. S. Army veteran and worked as a machinist. James was preceded in death by his wife, Clarinda Beres Copeland, on January 22, 2006; his parents; and siblings, Robert Copeland, Alta Mae Copeland, Opal Copeland, Sara Copeland, Anette Copeland and Edward Copeland. Survivors include daughters, Sandra Leinbaugh of Abilene and Donna Copeland of Austin; sister, Glenda Gilliand of Altoona, Alabama; brother, Oscar Samuel "O.S." Copeland of Altoona, Alabama; six grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, July 10, with a funeral service to follow at 4 p.m. in The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas, with Rev. David Cason officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer, Ohio.
