James “Jim” Carter Cooke passed away on June 28, 2013 at his home in Midland, Texas.
The family will greet friends Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel with Tod Brown officiating.
Jim was born December 23, 1962 in San Antonio, Texas to William Robert and Peggy Carter Cooke. He went to Cooper High School in Abilene, Texas and graduated in 1981. He played football for Texas Christian University where he was a 4-year varsity letterman. He graduated from TCU with a Bachelor’s in Business Management and a Master’s in Physical Education. Jim was very active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, William Robert Cooke, and his mother, Peggy Carter Cooke.
Jim is survived by his two children, Rebekah Ann Cooke and William Arthur Cooke and their mother Kelly Rowell Cooke, all of Midland, Texas. A brother, Jay Cooke and wife Laurie of Richardson, Texas. Two sisters, Suzanne Woodall and Jana Eckert and husband Larry, both of Abilene, Texas. He is also survived by nieces, Chandler Walters and husband Marcus, Christin Porter and husband Luke, Amanda McSherry and husband Luke, and Emily Woodall. And he is also survived by nephews, Chase Cooke and Evan and Nicholas Eckert.
Jim was a great dad and was extremely proud of Rebekah and Will. He also wanted to make a positive contribution to the lives of the students he taught and coached.
