Reggie Bowman, 62, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 23, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, February 24, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, with Rev. Stan Allcorn and Brother Jack Ridlehoover officiating. Burial will follow at 4:30 pm in Concord Cemetery, near Waco, Texas.
Reggie was born on March 25, 1943 to James D. Bowman and Virginia L. (Schmitt) Bowman in Richardson, Texas. He graduated from high school in Lancaster, Texas. On June 11, 1965, Reggie married Elizabeth Darlene Moran in Waco, Texas. He attended college at Howard Payne College and graduated in 1968 and then attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Reggie has served in various staff positions at Baptist churches in several cities, including Palestine, Odessa, Lampasas, Del City, Oklahoma, and Hobbs, New Mexico. In Bozeman, Montana he served as Director of Baptist Student Ministry at Montana State University. In 1999, Mr. Bowman moved to Abilene from Palestine, Texas. He was the minister of education at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, before retiring in October of 2005.
Mr. Bowman is survived by both of his parents, J.D. & Virginia Bowman of Lancaster, Texas; his wife, Darlene of Abilene; his son Greg Bowman and his wife Ginger of Duncanville, Texas; his daughter, Melody Bowman of Arlington, Texas, and Melody's fianc?, Steve Grammer of Mansfield, Texas; three brothers, Rodney Bowman and his wife Joan of Angleton, Texas, Ernie Bowman and his wife Becky, of Fate, Texas, Terry Bowman and his wife Lee Ann of Wichita Falls, Texas; one grandchild, Caleb James Bowman, and several nieces and nephews.
