James L. “Andy” Anderson, 76, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013, in Abilene following a long illness.
He was born in Abilene, Texas, June 1, 1937 to parents Lloyd A. and Mary Louise Anderson. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1955, and attended the University of Texas in Austin, graduating with a degree in business. While at the University he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon.
Upon graduation, Mr. Anderson returned to Abilene and joined the family business, J. D. Moore Transfer and Storage. He later founded and operated Andy Anderson Van Lines.
Mr. Anderson married Nancy Stanley of Wichita Falls, Texas, October 24th, 1959. They had two children, Mike and Nan.
He was a former member of the Rotary Club and loved coaching Little League. He loved to hunt and enjoyed spending many summers at the family cabin in South Fork, Colorado.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, son James Michael Anderson, daughter Nan and husband George Graham; his mother Mary Louise Anderson and brother Evan Anderson and wife Cynthia. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Andrew Michael Anderson and wife Rebecca, Harrison Lloyd Graham, and Nancy Catherine Graham.
He was preceded in death by his father Lloyd A. Anderson and brother Harry Anderson.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 2, in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church with Rev. Stan Allcorn and Bro. Jack Ridlehoover officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 1, at the funeral home.
