Jadine “Bunny” Patterson Nuding, 90, of Abilene passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Father Sam Matthiesen officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at the Patterson Family Cemetery on the J.D. Patterson Ranch in Stonewall County. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Bunny was born on January 10, 1925 to J.D. and Vada Patterson, an only child. She graduated from Peacock High School and attended TWU in Denton for one year, then transferred to Texas Tech University where she met the love of her life, Lieutenant John F. Nuding, US Army Air Corps. They spent the next 30 years living the Air Force life and traveling which included two years in Alaska, four years in England and three years in Germany. Bunny was a longtime volunteer with the Red Cross.
She is the owner of the “Texas Ranching Heritage”, J.D. Patterson Ranch, established in 1887 in Stonewall County.
Bunny is survived by her husband of 70 years, Col. John F. Nuding, Ret.; and three sons, Butch and wife Linda, Doug and wife Teresa, and Frank and wife Jennifer. She is also survived by nine granddaughters, one grandson, five great-grandsons, and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Lyn Nuding.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Flowers, Jay Flowers, Coley Flowers, John Cowen, Bernie Thiel, Josh Lindsey and Rick Hazlett.
