Jacklyn Louise Rogers

1977 — September 17, 2010

Jacklyn Louise Rogers passed from this life to life with Jesus on Friday Morning, September 17, 2010 in Panhandle Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 20, 2010 at the Iberis Cemetery. Rev. Rudy Fambrough will officiate. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Jacklyn Louise Rogers was born on June 2, 1977 in Amarillo, Texas. Jackie accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 7 while her parents worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and lived north of Merkel. The family helped build and attended Countryside Baptist Church Pastored by Rudy Fambrough. Jackie attended school at Merkel from 1st thru 3rd grades. She went with her parents to Old Mexico as Missionaries until she was 13 years old. She attended school while in Old Mexico at the primary school in "Paso de San Antonio" (locally known as "La Hacienda"). She loved the culture in Mexico and made numerous friends which she was still in contact with until she passed to be with Jesus. She graduated from Abilene High School in May of 1995. She began work at age 16 at the Day Nursery of Abilene and after she graduated began work for Sam's Club until her parents relocated to Amarillo after the death of her paternal grandmother Hazel Rogers. She helped care for her Grandmother for many years. She began work in Amarillo at Wal-Mart for a period of time and then began working at TDCJ. She worked another period at Owens's Corning as a contract laborer until she became disabled. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Jack and Hazel Rogers of Abilene, and her maternal grandfather, Raymond Ortega of Amarillo. She is survived by her son James-Michael Dakota Rogers, her parents James and Louise Rogers, a brother James "Chris" Rogers and sister-in-law Crystal Rogers all of Panhandle and a brother, David R. Rogers of Waxahachie, Texas. In addition she is survived by her maternal grandmother, LaJean Ortega of Amarillo. She has many aunts and uncles and many nieces and nephews, plus a surplus of those she called "Friend". Jackie had the gift of "Giving". She was always ready to give of herself when she was too tired or in pain; her time, when she had none to give, her finances when she had little and maybe none; but most of all, her love, so often needing it the most. She sacrificed her needs so others in need could have, even if those around her thought it to be unnecessary. She seemed to always see the good in those with needs while others may barely even notice or thought they may not be deserving or "unsightly". She lived with her parents and son, often making sure they were taken care of while never expecting anything in return. She could be a "warrior" when needed and encouraged others when she was so far down herself. She was never one to claim the attentions of others but waited for what was left and was always grateful. We deeply miss her presents with us but know our Father in Heaven has another child to cheer the rest of us on to the goal. Thanks for blessing us, and may we see you soon.
