Dr. Jack Haynes, 78, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2005 in Abilene. A visitation will be held Thursday, November 17, 2005 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be Friday, November 18, 2005 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with Dr. Phil Christopher officiating, assisted by C.V. Blake and Charles Coody. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Dr. Haynes was born December 16, 1926 to Comer Haynes and Winnie Murel Teaff Haynes in Taylor County. Jack's mother passed away when he was a small child. Comer married Lucy Tracy and Jack was raised by his step-mother and his father. He graduated from Merkel High School, Hardin Simmons University, and Baylor School of Medicine in Houston. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Korea. Dr. Haynes married Molyan Martin on December 27, 1949 in Houston, Texas. Dr. Haynes moved to Abilene in 1952 where he was a family practice physician. He retired from his medical practice in August of 2002. He was a lifetime member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Fellow of the American Geriatrics Society, Board of Directors of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians, Award of Meritorious Service, lifetime member of the American Medical Association, and past President of the Taylor-Jones County Medical Association. As a teenager, Jack's steer won "Grand Champions Steer" at the Houston Livestock Show. He was also Team Physician for both Hardin Simmons University and Abilene Cooper High School. He served on the board of Directors of the Diamond Back Charity Classic. Jack was an avid golfer and club champion multiple times. He had at least 10 hole in ones and shot his age many times. Dr. Haynes was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother, Lucy Tracy Haynes. Dr. Haynes is survived by his wife, Molyan Haynes of Abilene, five children, Susan Nell Haynes of Abilene, Jack Haynes, Jr. and his wife Donna of Rowlett, Texas, Cherie and John Speer of Abilene, Shelley and Paul Hiett of El Paso, Texas, and Russell and Lois Haynes of Abilene; one brother, Bill C. Haynes and his wife Sandra of Abilene; eight grandchildren, Wade Haynes of Graham, Texas, Krystal Haynes, deceased, Jason Hiett of El Paso, Texas, Stephanie Haynes of Abilene, Molyan and Russell Hiett of El Paso, Jacqueline and Dylan Speer of Abilene, and Preston Haynes of Abilene; one nephew, William C. Haynes, M.D. of Abilene, one niece, Mary Melinda Davis of Dallas, and numerous other nieces and nephews. Wade Haynes, Jason Hiett, Russell Hiett, Dylan Speer, Preston Haynes, Mark Haynes, William C. Haynes, M.D., Conway Jordan, and Brad Grace will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be sent in honor of Dr. Jack Haynes to Hendrick Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1922, Abilene, Texas 79604; Krystal Haynes Memorial Scholarship Fund, The American National Bank of Texas, ATTN: Brenda Briscoe, P.O.
