Jack Henry Fulwiler, 82, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at his home in Abilene. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Elmwood Memorial Park with Adrianna Golden-Smith, Chaplain of Hendrick Hospice, officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Jack Henry was born on December 27, 1935 in Abilene, Texas to Lorraine and Jack Fulwiler. He was a lifetime resident of Abilene, graduating from Abilene High School in 1953 and then going on to earn his BBA from Texas Tech in 1957. Jack was an Eagle Scout. He became a Certified Gemologist and Master Watch Maker. Later in his career, he was recognized as the only Master Watch Maker in Texas for the 21st century.
Jack Henry served our country in the Army National Guard and retired as a Major in 1978, where he was known to everyone as “Captain Jack”. He was a member of the Abilene Rotary Club, AGTA, AGS, Kiwanis Club, and Jaycees. He was President of the Downtown Association, and also served as the President of the Lake Ft. Phantom Home Owners Association. Jack was a member of First Christian Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Jack Henry married Debi Henslee in Lawton, Oklahoma on March 24, 1982. He owned and operated Fulwiler Jewelers in Abilene. In Jack’s younger years, he was a pilot and enjoyed flying recreationally. Jack was an avid golfer & always enjoyed playing in tournaments at the Abilene Country Club. Jack always kept an immaculate yard and loved being outside. In his later years he loved fishing for crappie off of his dock with his wife, Debi.
Jack Henry is survived by his wife, Debi Fulwiler of Abilene; two daughters, Amy High Pettitt and husband Tony of Ft. Worth, Texas, Lisa Fulwiler Smith and husband Joey of Abilene; one sister, Barbara Fulwiler McAlister of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Tanner and Elle Pettitt, Ashleigh Smith Allegrucci, Alyssa Smith Riffle, and Justin Smith; several great grandchildren; two nieces, Vicki Skaggs and husband John of McAllen, Texas, Paula Roberts and husband Phil of Texas City, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Tony Pettitt, Tanner Pettitt, Danny Blay, Ron McCoy, Bill North, John Skaggs, Phil Roberts, and Larry Kuehn.
Memorials may be made in Jack Henry’s honor to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1651 Pine Street, Abilene, Texas 79601.
