Irma Chapa Fulbright, 78, of Abilene, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, in Abilene.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2025, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., with Rev. Stephen Elliott of Elmcrest Baptist Church officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date in the Breckenridge Cemetery.
Irma was born in Laredo, Texas to Margarito and Olivia (Rodriguez) Chapa on November 18, 1946. She graduated from High School in Laredo and attended college for a year. She became a licensed cosmetologist and had numerous clients throughout her 57-year career. She married William Lee “Bill” Fulbright in Abilene on February 14, 1986. Irma was a member of Elmcrest Baptist Church.
Irma is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Elena Diffenderfer, and brother Daniel Chapa.
Irma is survived by her children, Joseph A. McNeil and wife Wendy of Amarillo, and Brenda Spotts of Hamby; granddaughter, Emily Spotts of Irving; sisters, Diana Cisneros and husband Avelino of Tomball, Margie Chapa of San Antonio, Sara Chapa of Laredo; brother, David Chapa and wife Veronica of Laredo, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Memorials may be given in Irma’s honor to Elmcrest Baptist Church, Taylor-Jones Humane Society or to the donor’s favorite charity.
The family of Irma wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Cindy Carter who helped Irma for over 14 years, Shannon Palone, P.A., and the staff and doctors of Hendrick Medical Center-South ICU, especially Sahara, for their comfort and care.
