Inge Laird, 76, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on 2 April 2016.
Visitation will be 5pm to 7pm, Thursday, 7 April 2016 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Memorial Service will be held at 11am, Friday, 8 April 2016, at First Baptist Church of Abilene with Pastor Phil Christopher officiating.
Inge Laird was born on 3 August 1939, in Furth, Germany. Raised during the Second World War and post war Germany before she immigrated to the United States in 1958. Raising four children on various military bases her family settled in Abilene in 1973. Her early career was as a buyer for the Grissom’s Department Stores and was followed by a thirty year plus career as a realtor with Senter Realtors. She was an active member of the Abilene Philharmonic Symphony Association, Abilene Women’s Club, Abilene Country Club, Carousel Club, Knickerbocker Dance Club, and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Abilene.
Inge was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Maria Karl, a sister Anne, two brothers Max and Heinz, and a grandchild Nathan.
Inge is survived by her husband of 28 years Ira (Sonny) Laird; two brothers, Herman and Willy, two sisters, Ursula and Renate; four children, Bruce, Kim Ann, Catherine, and Carl; three stepchildren; Dell, Jimmie, and Lee-Anne. Seventeen grandchildren; Michelle, Lauren, Danielle, Heather, Seth, Alex, James, Jacob, Chelsea, Allie, Rebekah, Carlene, JoAnne, Max, Riley, Jessie, and Ryan. Six great grandchildren; Peyton, Mickena, Amelia, Parker, Lorelei, and Alora.
