Imogene Neill went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, July 16, 2007.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at Dorn Cemetery at Lake Colorado City, Texas, with Pastor Tom Lyda officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 18th, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, in Abilene.
Imogene was born on January 4, 1926 in Roff, Oklahoma to Steve and Jessie Jones. Her family moved to Big Spring, Texas when she was a young girl.
On December 25, 1943 Imogene married Frank Louis Neill in Big Spring, Texas. Frank and Imogene had two children, Frank Jr. and Gloria.
Imogene was a homemaker and later worked at Hemphill-Wells as the manager of the post office and gift wrap department. Often she would create unique items to go on packages to make them extra special. Imogene always had a smile on her face and brightened the day of anyone she encountered. Imogene retired from Dunlap's in 1979.
Imogene enjoyed spending time at her lake cabin in Colorado City, playing bingo and most importantly sharing her love for family and friends.
Imogene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Neill Sr. and her precious son, Frank Neill Jr. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Steve Jones, Jessie Knous and J.D. Knous; brother, Glen Jones; sisters Juanita Flowers and Mary Pybus.
Survivors include her daughter, Gloria Kimbrough and husband, Terry, of Abilene; four grandchildren, Lisa Reed and husband Chad, of Lubbock, Jeff Neill and wife, Staci, of New Braunfels, Erica Frazier and husband, Blaine, of Abilene and Heather Taher and husband Sam, of Austin; eight great-grandchildren, Katlin and Will Reed, Hunter, Cole and Alli Neill, Reagan Frazier and Zach and Ashleigh Taher. She is also survived by brothers, Jimmy Knous of Houston, Grover Jones of Sherman and James Jones of Wynnewood, Oklahoma; sisters, Yvonne Steagald and Betty Whitehead of Seattle, Washington, Virginia Lee and Ruby Byrum of Wynnewood, Oklahoma.
The family would like to thank Hendrick Hospice Care and the loving staff at Coronado Nursing Center for the excellent care that Imogene received. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association or Abilene Goodwill Industries, 1730 North First, Abilene, Texas 79603. Imogene touched the lives of so many and will be greatly missed.
