Imogene Bagley Bleiker, 80, of Abilene, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Mesa Springs Nursing Center. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Elmwood Memorial Park, with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Imogene was born in Mankato, Minnesota on November 6, 1934 to Harley and Evelyn (Nordgren) Bagley. She graduated from high school in Tucumcari, New Mexico and attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Imogene married Bill Bleiker on November 20, 1954 in Las Cruces. She was a devoted wife and mother to her husband and two daughters. Home was her specialty; she was the ultimate hostess and homemaker. Her love for her family and friends determined her priorities. She spent many days volunteering at her church, her girl’s schools and activities, and numerous civic organizations. She shared her organizational skills as a school secretary in both NM and TX. Her entrepreneurial spirit and flare for fashion was fulfilled as the owner of a ladies dress shop in Canyon, TX. Her personality and her love for others will be her legacy. She was a beautiful example of a Godly woman.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Imogene is survived by her two daughters, Janna Lewis and husband Gary, Jill Harris and husband Ed; her brother, Donald Bagley and wife Nata; five grandchildren, Lauren Clark and husband Will, Evan Harris and wife Callie, Brad Lewis and wife Theresa, Peyton Harris and Colin Harris. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Hudson, Hayes and Collier Clark, and Caroline Harris, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Peggy and Bob Bleiker, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be sons-in-law and grandsons: Gary Lewis, Ed Harris, Will Clark, Evan Harris, Brad Lewis, Peyton Harris and Colin Harris.
The family of Imogene Bleiker wishes to extend their sincere thanks for their loving care to Dr. Sandy Hazelip, the staff at Mesa Springs, IntegraCare Hospice, and especially her loving and faithful caregiver, Margaret Lewis.
