Hubert Perry Meadows, 95, passed away from this life to his heavenly home on Thursday, July 18, 2024. He was born at home in Loraine, (Mitchell County) Texas on January 24, 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mary Agnes (Mahon) Meadows; and three older siblings: Forrest King Meadows (Joanne), Doris Cripliver (Roger), and Jane Coston (Ferrell).

 Hubert is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Nina Belle (McDermett) Meadows. They were married on April 19, 1952 at University Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas. Their children are Marla Jayne Davis (Tony) of Tijeras, NM; Mary Catherine Walls (Jimmy) of Charlestown, IN; and James Glen Meadows (Carla) of Merkel, TX. Grandchildren are Ashley Meredith Davis (Ben) Brooks, AJ Davis (Kelsea), Nathan Walls, Ashley Lauren Walls Pohl (Dylan), Julie Meadows Ju (Jaetak), Melissa Meadows Jenkins (Joshua), Amy Meadows Roddy (Micah) and Great-grandchildren are Corban, Dallas, and Evelyn Brooks; Shiloh and Hollyn Pohl; Emma and Levi Roddy; Leo Ju, and Kinsley Davis.

 While in high school, Hubert worked on the family farm, played tennis, and drove a school bus for Loraine ISD. He graduated from Loraine High School and attended Texas Tech before joining the military. He served as an airplane mechanic for 4 years in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Halliburton and Welex before becoming a full-time cotton and cattle farmer. He farmed in Mitchell County for 40 years.

 Hubert was actively involved in his church and community, serving on the Loraine School Board for 12 years, as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Loraine and Treasurer of the Lions Club for many years.

 After retiring, Hubert and Nina moved to Abilene where they joined Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and became active with the Primetimers group and with the Texas Church Builders. They enjoyed traveling with tour groups and in their fifth wheel RV. Hubert also enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, woodworking, gardening, and playing games.

 Hubert will always be remembered for his pleasant disposition, mischievous sense of humor, the ability to fix anything, his excellent work ethic, math skills, wisdom and integrity.

 Visitation with the family will be 5-7 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Tuesday, July 23, 2024. A service honoring Hubert will be held at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene at 11 am on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, with a graveside service at 1 pm at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Pallbearers are Nathan Walls, Aaron Davis, Jaetak Ju, Joshua Jenkins, and Micah Roddy.

 The family wishes to give a special thanks to the employees of Windcrest and to Interim Hospice for their care of Hubert. Memorials may be given to Pioneer Drive Baptist Church building fund or to a charity of the donor's choice.
