Hortencia S. Rodriguez

Hortencia S. Rodriguez entered into eternal peace on Sunday, January 19, 2014. She was born on June 1st, 1936 to Anselmo and Josephine Saucedo in Mackey, TX, the eldest of seven brothers and sisters. On December 3, 1955 she married the love of her life, Reyes Rodriguez in Abilene, TX. She was the exemplar of a woman with integrity and ethics as well as a devout woman of her faith. She and Reyes served in many aspects of ministry at their church, Holy Family Catholic Church in Abilene. One could never count the lessons of life she offered our family and we will be forever grateful to have had her bless this earth for 77 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Joe Saucedo. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Reyes Rodriguez; her son, Danny Rodriguez and wife Jeanne Rodriguez of Houston; her daughter, Cynthia Rodriguez Rocha and husband Robert Rocha, Jr. of San Antonio; brothers, Raymond Saucedo and wife Martha of Tyler, George Saucedo of Arlington; sisters, Margaret Gonzales of Dallas, Betty Benabidez and husband Ray, Mary Ann Vega and husband Tony; and sister-in-law Lydia Saucedo, all of Abilene. She was the loving grandmother to Melissa Rodriguez Flores, Maggie Rodriguez Salinas, Lucas Daniel Rodriguez, Antonio Daniel Rocha and Catalina Paloma Rocha. She was blessed with five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Joey Saucedo, Michael Gonzales, Gary DeAnda, Sean Saucedo, Anthony Vega and Lucas Daniel Rodriguez. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 22nd from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a Rosary service beginning at 7:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. A celebration mass will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5410 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX by Msgr. Frederick Nawarskas, and will enter into her final resting place at Elmwood Memorial Park located at 5750 U.S. 277, Abilene, TX 79606.
