Holly was born in Monahans, Texas on November 25, 1943 to Norman and Leona Belle (Brannan) Haskew. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1962 and was proud to be an Eagle. In the 1960's she worked at KWKC Radio and in the late 1960's and early 1970's for KNIT Radio. Holly married Herbert Neal Cloud in December of 1974. Almost 2 years later, on her birthday, her first child, a daughter was born. Joy will miss hearing that she was the best birthday present ever every year on their birthday. Ten months later, she gave birth to a son, her "special gift" from God. Michael was also due on hers and Joys birthday but was 2 months premature. She was always grateful for her marriage to Neal, because he gave her, her 2 wonderful children that she loved so very much and was also extremely proud of. Holly was a stay at home Mom during the early years of her children's life. She also did home daycare so she could continue to be at home with her children. Holly had a very special gift working with young children and enjoyed it every chance she got, especially in VBS. Holly was a nutrition specialist for the Abilene Independent School District where she worked in the PEPP Program from 1990 to 1999 and the Early Head Start Program from 1999 to 2006. After retiring she worked at Aldersgate UMC "Mother's Day Out" program.
On Oct 31st, 1987, she met her soul mate and the love of her life, Wally Walston. They were married on May 28, 1988 in Abilene. They shared a very special and unique love. In 24 years of marriage they enjoyed many activities but as long as they were together they could have fun doing just about anything!
Holly attended Temple Baptist church from a small girl until it relocated and became Lytle South Baptist Church which made her a charter member. Holly loved the Lord and lived her life so others could see Him thru her. Her favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5-6 and she lived her life by it.
Holly preceded her husband, Wally, in death by one day. In 2007, she was preceded in death by her father, Norman Haskew, her mother, Leona Belle Haskew and one granddaughter, Bethany Gabrielle Cloud. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Waymon "Red" Tyson, as well as two step-sons, Kirt and Michael Walston.
Holly is survived by one son, Michael Cloud and girlfriend Amy Ogle; one daughter, Joy Cloud-Lee and husband James Lee, both of Abilene; two step-sons, Travis Walston and wife Robin of San Antonio and Taylor Walston and wife Lorraine of Murfreesboro, TN; two step-daughters, Dena Sommers and husband Jay of Cambria, CA and Robben Morin and husband Steve of Salem, OR; one sister, Susie McCormick and husband Cecil of Hawley; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three nephews.
