Henry Gene Pinkston, 79, of Abilene, passed away Monday, March 26th, 2018. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Wednesday, March 28th, 2018 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. A graveside service will be at 1:00PM on Thursday, March 29th at the Drummond Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 2:00PM at View Baptist Church. Pastor John Fanning will officiate.
Henry was born January 28, 1939 to M.L Pinkston and Laudis Irene (Salyers) Pinkston in Buffalo Gap, Texas. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1957. Henry married Barbara Nan Buchanan at Wiley Baptist Church in Abilene on July 27, 1962, and they have been married for 57 years. He was a printer for Pender Company and later Cloud Printing.
He was a member of View Baptist where he served as a song leader and youth minister as well as Wylie Baptist and Broadview Baptist Church. He enjoyed actively leading music in small church revivals. He began farming in 1959 with his father-in-law, Hollis. He carried out this tradition with his children, and never lacking in time to help friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, M.L Pinkston, Jr. and one grandson Joshua Pinkston.
Henry is survived by his wife Barbara Pinkston of Abilene; three sons, Troy Pinkston and wife Shelia of Abilene, Greg Pinkston and wife Allison of Anson, and Marshall Pinkston and wife Shelley of Abilene; one brother, Tom Pinkston and wife Harriet of Murchison, Texas; nine grandchildren; Emily Olvera and husband Marco, Ashley Tindol and husband Jay, Caleb Pinkston and wife Shelbi, Jo Lynn Pinkston and fiancé Riley Owens , Brianna Pinkston, Hollis Hayes Pinkston, Tatum Pinkston, Todd Collier and fiancée Kylie Bell, Toby Collier; as well as nine great-grandchildren.
