Henry “Sonny” Palmour Jr., beloved father and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024 at the age of 78. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and unwavering love. He touched the lives of many with his gentle spirit and compassionate heart.
Born on April 26, 1946 in Bowie, Texas, Sonny was the epitome of devotion to family. He dedicated his life to providing for and nurturing his loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of love and selflessness. His presence brought joy and comfort to all who knew him, and his memory will forever be treasured.
Sonny is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and June Palmour, his first wife, Nancy Palmour; a granddaughter, Tiffany Silvey and a sister, Francis Palmour.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 24 years, Odilia Palmour; two sons, Chane Christie and Vidal Hinojos, a daughter Chandi Bassett and husband, Jason; 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Darlene Remington, Becky Glaze and Gwen Benefield and two brothers; Ricky Palmour and Joe Palmour, all who will carry on his legacy of love and strength. His wife and children were his greatest joy, and he leaves behind cherished memories that will be forever treasured.
Sonny graduated from Cooper High School in 1964 and joined the Abilene Fire Department in June 1964 and served there for almost 20 years. Sonny will be remembered not only for his achievements but for the kindness and generosity he extended to everyone he encountered. He loved dancing, antiquing, work, and griping. Sonny was a patriot, loved America and all it stood for. Sonny retired from the Army Nation Guard after 24 years of service.

A celebration of Sonny’s life will be held on June 1st, 2024, at 10:00 visitation and funeral starting at 11:00am at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. All who knew him are invited to join in honoring his memory and sharing stories of his remarkable life.
Though he may no longer walk among us, Sonny’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for eternity.
