Henry R. Bloodworth, 84, of Abilene passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at his home. Services will be Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Ken Lyle officiating under the direction of Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Visitation will be Friday, April 5, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Henry was born November 25, 1939 in Olney, Texas to Herman Emery and Mary Elizabeth (Mitchell) Bloodworth. He graduated from Olney High School where he played basketball. Henry then attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, graduating with a BS. He met the love of his life, Nancy Flint in Brownfield and they married on August 4, 1984 in Graham, Texas. Henry was a math and social studies teacher for Junior High and High School for Brownfield ISD, Eula ISD and Abilene ISD. He retired after 38 years of Teaching. As a child, Henry attended the Presbyterian Church in Olney and was later baptized at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. He was a very soft spoken, caring husband, father and grandfather.
Henry is survived by his wife Nancy Bloodworth of 39 years; two sons, David Lee Bloodworth and John Ross Bloodworth and wife Morgan; one daughter Emily Elizabeth Bloodworth; three grandchildren, Madison, Charlie and Brantley; one sister, Jane Beasley and husband Cecil; two special nephews, Mike Beasley and wife Shelley and Barry Young and wife Sue and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
The family would like to thank the individuals who cared for Henry, Sarah Smith and Ieshea DeFoor .
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hendrick Hospice.
