Hazel Marie Conklin Hazel Conklin, 96, died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at a local nursing home. Funeral services, with Rev. Burtis Williams officiating, will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Tuscola. Burial will follow in the Drummond Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Hazel was born June 23, 1913 in Gonzales, Texas to Jesse James Smith and Callie (Pippen) Smith. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tuscola. Nanny loved to garden and tend to the chickens. She served so many meals to so many people over the years. Nanny loved all of her animals from the cows to the cats. We all loved Nanny BooBoo very much! The family would like to express thanks to all of Nanny's nurses and caregivers. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cecil Augustus Conklin in 1970, an infant daughter Wanda Jean, four brothers and one sister. Hazel is survived by one daughter, Sue Humphrey of Tuscola; two granddaughters, Carolyn Gleason and husband Robert, Connie McCoy and husband Chuck, all of Tuscola; six great-grandchildren, Kayla Hussman and husband R.D., Laura Gwinn and husband Waylon, Matthew Gleason, Jacob Gleason, Taylor Insall and Abigail McCoy; five great-great grandchildren, Tyler and Tanner Hussman, Kylie, Preslie and Cash Gwinn. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Robert Gleason, Chuck McCoy, Matthew Gleason, Jacob Gleason, Taylor Insall, R.D. Hussman and Waylon Gwinn will serve as pallbearers. Hazel's nephew and great nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
