Hattie Marguerite Alford, 92, of Abilene, died Monday, April 19, 2010 at a local nursing home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Rising Star Church of Christ with burial to follow in Elm Cemetery in Rising Star. Rodney Ashlock will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Marguerite was born October 23, 1917 in DeLeon, Texas to Jack Almand and Patty Blanche (Goslen) Almand. She graduated from high school in Sipe Springs. In 1984, Marguerite moved from Rising Star to Abilene. She was a member of the Quilters Club and Westgate Church of Christ. Marguerite was an artist.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Patty Almand; her husband, Curtis Arthur Alford in January 1985; one brother, two sisters and one granddaughter, Jodi Lu Alford.
Marguerite is survived by two sons, Ed Alford and wife Pat of Abilene, Tommy Alford and wife Sherry of Rising Star; one brother, Al Almand and wife Loretta of Marshall; three sisters, Edna Smith of California, Clara Bradshaw of Abilene, Wilma Moore and husband Clarence of Kerrville; three grandchildren, Leslie Bowley and husband Curtis, Chance Alford and wife Allison, Jason Alford and wife Katie; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chance Alford, Jason Alford, Dwayne Hargesheimer, Franklin Cox, Scott Olson and Weldon Hill.
