Haskell Drucilla Waldrop
Haskell Drucilla Waldrop, of Abilene, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the age of 102. Graveside services will be today, Thursday, March25, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
June 9, 1907, Haskell was born in Yeager, Oklahoma to John Nelson Howard and Mary Elizabeth (Page) Howard. She graduated from high school in Shawnee Oklahoma in 1925. Haskell married Freed Arvy Waldrop on September 5, 1927 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. The couple lived in Dallas and in Oklahoma City before making Abilene their home in 1959. After her husband passed away in 1980, Haskell volunteered for a number of years for the Christian Service Center. She was a member of Woodlawn Church of Christ.
Haskell was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Howard; her husband, Freed Avry Waldrop; one son, John B. Waldrop; one grandson, David B. Waldrop; four sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by one daughter, Patsy Branch and her husband Bob, of Abilene; one daughter-in-law, Vicki Waldrop; seven grandchildren, Ken Branch and wife Diane, Cindy Larson and husband Don, Janet Ratliff and husband Bryce, Sharon Hershey and husband Dave, Kaprajean Norris and husband John, Jennifer Wilkins and husband Blake, and Lisa Waldrop. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
