Harvey Smith, age 58, passed away on September 7th, 2020 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.
Harvey was born in Abilene Texas on April 16, 1962 and was a lifelong resident of Abilene. He was a 1980 graduate of Cooper High School. Harvey married the love of his life Cheryl Jackson Smith on April 20, 2018. He was Customer Service Manager at Tigé Boats for 21 years.
Harvey was a lifelong avid outdoorsman – he loved to be outside in nature and enjoyed fishing, boating and hunting. He especially loved hunting season every year at his deer lease shared with his best lifelong friend Rodger Hollabaugh.
Harvey was an extremely organized and fastidious person, with a place for everything and everything in its place. Harvey was a true friend that you could truly count on! He also loved going to concerts, dancing with his wife, and enjoying live comedy shows. Harvey was accomplished in that he could do anything mechanical or construction, he was a hard worker who got the job done at home and at work. Harvey was a great cook- his fish fries were legendary! And could even make blankets which he gifted his friends.
He looked forward to his yearly motorcycle rides – one with his brother-in-law Jim and the other with his special group of friends who bestowed upon him the nickname "Radar" – wherever the group would go, Harvey somehow knew the directions and way, whether it be in Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, or the Texas Hill Country, which he especially loved riding the "Three Sisters" mountainous ranch roads.
Harvey was incredibly proud of his children Jake and Autumn, and his grandchildren Morgan, Cooper, Mia and Olivia were the apple of his eye! He truly loved being a pawpaw and spending time with his grandchildren.
Harvey was preceded in death by his mother Joyce Smith, father Harvey Smith, Sr., and brother James.
Harvey is survived by his devoted and faithful wife Cheryl Smith, his loving sister Mary Fowler and her husband Jim, daughter Autumn McNeil, son Jake Smith and wife Courtney, and sisters Cynthia White and Barbara Broyles and husband Michael.
Harvey leaves behind many family and friends who will miss him dearly; Harvey made many lifelong relationships and friendships - many friends and coworkers over the years from General Dynamics/Lockheed, Coca-Cola, and of course Tigé Boats. As per Harvey's wishes, there will be no memorial service. If you would like to honor Harvey's memory, he would have rather you be together with your loved ones, hug them tight and tell them you love them, and hoist a glass in his memory and give a toast to our beloved husband, father, brother, friend.
