Hartzell Jackson, this is your life. You were given to us for 96 years on this earthly plane and made an impact on everyone you met.
Your earthly journey saw numerous presidents, a World War, the Depression, space travel and many events that made history. Hartzell, you are our history, to be memorialized in our hearts and minds.
We will love you as much in eternity as we did in this earthly life. Thanks for the legacy you left, one of loving and walking with God, and the wisdom of the ages.

Hartzell Jackson was born in Pelham, Texas, on March 28, 1914, son of the late Evelyn Allen Jackson and Grant Jackson, and had been a resident of Abilene since age twelve. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having attained the rank of staff sergeant, and worked as a porter at both the Windsor and Wooten Hotels in Abilene. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church.
Hartzell married Lula Mae Biggers on May 17, 1946 in Abilene. She preceded him in death on July 16, 2001. Hartzell passed from this life on Saturday, October 30, 2010.
Hartzell is survived by two daughters, Linda Faye Francis of Seattle, Washington, and Nisha Ann Jackson of Abilene; three sons, William Earl Jackson and Larry Donnell Jackson both of Carson, California, and Eric Jackson of Rockwall, Texas; one brother, Leonard Jackson of Abilene; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 5, at New Hope Church, 3122 South Clack with Rev. Charles Farina officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
