Harry Eugene Dunlap, Jr.

Harry (H.E.) Eugene Dunlap, 83, of Abilene passed away on March 1, 2021 in Abilene, Texas.

Harry (H.E.) was born in Longview, Texas to Harry and Mary Dunlap on February 1, 1938.  He went to school in Abilene, Texas.  He graduated from Abilene High School in 1956 and from McMurry University in 1966.  He played football and baseball in high school.  He married Verdell on November 27, 1986 in Las Vegas.  He was last employed by Perini Ranch Steakhouse in quality control.  H.E. loved playing golf, trips to the casinos with friends, had a keen sense of humor and loved his family and friends.  The one thing everyone would say is: “H.E.’s greatest love was for his wife Verdell”.  He will truly be missed by all.  

Harry (H.E.) was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary Dunlap, his sister and brother-in-law, Jean and John Rogers, his son, Chris Dunlap and step-grandson, Michael Newman. 

Harry (H.E.) is survived by his spouse Verdell Dunlap, his son Matt Dunlap, his stepson Ryne Wetsel and daughter-in-law Beth Wetsel, step-grandchildren Payton Wetsel, Casey Brock and Bailey Brock.  Step-great granddaughter Myla.  Also survived by stepdaughter Karen Newman, step granddaughter RaeNae, step-great grandchildren CaeSea, Harley and LexSee. He is survived by a niece, Paula Stafford, nephew Phil Rogers and two great nieces Christina and Tiffani.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
