Harold Gene Williamson

1952 — November 30, 2020

Harold “Gene” Williamson, 68, of Abilene, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and children. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday December 4, 2020 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the Hamby Baptist Church with Jim Ritter, officiating. A private interment for family only will follow in the Hamby Cemetery under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Gene was born in Littlefield, Texas to JA “Jr.” Williamson and Lela Mae “Missie” (Smith) Williamson on April 18, 1952. He graduated from high school from Tucumcari, NM in 1971. Gene married Tanya Dillard on November 25, 1977. They enjoyed 43 wonderful years together. He worked for RSC for 19 years before retiring. After deciding he did not like retirement, he went to work at ARC for 8 years and retired again. During his second retirement he would work for Little Manufacturing whenever Bryan would need him, because “he just couldn’t sit at home and watch his grass grow”. Gene was a soccer referee with BCSA for over 15 years and still found the time to attend all four of his children’s soccer games. He was a member of Hamby Baptist Church and enjoyed Sunday School every Sunday morning. He was committed to his faith in God and to his loving family. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Jr. and Missie Williamson, one brother, Jimmy Williamson and his father-in-law, Jack Dillard. Gene leaves to cherish precious memories, his loving wife, Tanya; daughter, Stephanie “Missy” Heatherly and husband Fred of Abilene; son, Anthony Williamson and wife Brandy of Alpha, MI; daughter, Janis Goodman and husband Cody of Abilene; and daughter, Christie Callahan and husband John of Abilene; five grandchildren, Dyanne Holsonback and husband Mitchell of Albertville, AL, Kailey Fenton, Addison Goodman, and Tripp and Harper Callahan all of Abilene; two great grandchildren, Landon and Kopelynn Holsonback of Albertville, AL. Gene is also survived by his mother-in-law, Betty Dillard Trammel; sisters-in-law, Gail Poor and Becky Wheeler and husband Danny; brother-in-law, Mike Dillard; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family of Gene Williamson would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Tony Melnyk, Dr. Samantha Goodman and Hospice of the Big Country.
