Harold Fred Martin, 75, of Oak Creek Lake, passed away suddenly Saturday, September 2, 2006. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday, September 6 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Hamil Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday in the funeral home chapel, with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating.
On December 27, 1930, Harold was born to the late John Joyce and Alma Jewel (Mashburn) Martin in Trent, Texas. Harold graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1949. He married Jimmie "Sue" Lynn on November 22, 1950 in Sweetwater. Mr. Martin served in the United States Army Airborn before returning to Sweetwater, where he was employed by USG as an engineering clerk. Following his employment with USG, he worked for several years for area Livestock Auctions, before retiring and moving to Oak Creek Lake. An avid camper and fisherman, Harold loved the outdoors. He was a member of Brookhollow Christian Church in Abilene, Texas.
Harold is survived by his wife Jimmie "Sue" of Oak Creek Lake, two sons, Harold Fred Martin, Jr. of Oak Creek Lake and Ty Lynn Martin and his wife Tracy and their children, Courtney and Megan of Abilene; two daughters, Deborah Lynn Horton and her husband Wayne and their children, Jessy and Miranda Horton of Abilene, Suzette McIntyre and her husband Dean and their children Derek and Reid McIntyre of San Angelo; two great-grandchildren, Trinity Mayo and Logan Wyatt; one brother, John Joyce Martin, Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Sweetwater; several nieces, nephews and his faithful poodle, Fancy.
