Harold Ray Carter

Harold Ray Carter, 86, of Abilene, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2019 in Abilene, Texas. Committal services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Harold was born in Radium, Texas on October 28, 1932 to the late Bailey and Flora Jane (Dutton) Carter. He was a veteran of the Korean war, serving his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army. Harold had a long and fruitful life. His great empathy and cheer were a blessing to all he encountered. He built a varied career including sales, management, office operations, truck manager at Rocket Oldsmobile and extending into retirement in service of others. Somewhere in there, time was found to support various activities in schools and churches in the cities across Texas where he lived.

Harold will be missed as we think with joy on his reward.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Bailey M. Carter and Flora Jane (Dutton) Carter.

Harold is survived by his wife of 62 years, Chloe "Glenda" Carter; a son, Harold Glenn Carter and wife Nancy; a daughter, Pamela Hamm and husband Billy; one sister, Nancy Baity; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
