H. L. Templeton, 78, of Abilene, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at an Abilene medical center.
Born in Silver Valley, Texas in Coleman County, H. L. was the son of the late Irene Agatha (McAnally) and Herbert Lee Templeton. He graduated from Novice High School. For fifty-one years, H. L. had been a resident of Abilene where he worked as a salesman for Sears Roebuck & Co. for 30 years.
H. L. married Peggy Ruth Elliott on April 11, 1959 in Tuscola, Texas. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a longtime member of Wylie Baptist Church and a founding member of the Big Country Bird Hunters Association. He had trained many bird dogs over the years.
H. L. is survived by his wife, Peggy Templeton of Abilene; daughter, Michelle Collier and husband Mike of Abilene; brother, D. C. Templeton of Rankin, Texas; sister, Wanda Corder of Coleman; one grandson, Marc Collier; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 27, at Wylie Baptist Church with John Fanning and Rev. Lee Fuller officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Interment will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories.
