Greg "Red" Riggins, 55, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday January 24, 2018 at Clearfork Baptist Church, Hawley, TX with Pastor Jerry Joe Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Hawley Cemetery under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Greg was born in Breckenridge, TX to Frank and Gayle Riggins on September 16, 1962. He attended school in Hawley, TX. He graduated from Hawley High School and Western Texas College. He married his wife Leslie on May 27, 2000 in Buffalo Gap, TX. He worked for years as a gun salesman at several places and was known as "The gun guy" for his vast knowledge of firearms. He made beautiful hand-crafted leather items in his spare time. He was involved with coaching little league baseball and basketball, Hawley FFA, Jones County Junior Livestock Association, Jones County 4-H as a shooting sports leader for 15 years and served as a member of the Hawley City Council. He received the silver clover award and a meritorious service award from Jones County 4-H.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, Frank Riggins.
Greg is survived by his wife, Leslie, children Blake and Elisha Riggins of Abilene, TX, Ashley Riggins of Hawley, TX, Savannah Riggins of Canyon, TX, Zayne and Angel Riggins of Menard, TX, brother Scott and Dina Riggins of Abilene, TX, mother Gayle Riggins of Hawley, TX, grandchildren Gage, Ember, Wyatt, and Weston, and nephew Rowdy.
