Grady Lee Dement

Grady Lee Dement, age 67, died Monday, October 10, 2005 at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene. Cremation arrangements will be handled by The Hamil Family Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held, Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel at 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene, TX., with Ross Blasingame officiating. Grady Lee Dement was born on August 19, 1938 in Oxford, North Carolina to parents Cornell Ricton Dement and Corinne Bailey Oakley Dement. He married Patricia Darlene Gunter on July 10, 1959. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1974 as a Master Sergeant, and worked in the maintenance department for Gooch Packing Plant here in Abilene. Grady was preceded in death by his parents. Grady is lovingly survived and remembered by his wife, of forty-six years, Patricia Dement, of Buffalo Gap; his son, Carlton Dement and wife, Donna, of View; and his daughter, Jeanine and husband, David Sarten, of Buffalo Gap. Also three sisters: Katherine Arthur, of Clayton; Nita Johnson, of Henderson, North Carolina; and Lucy Wade, of Cordele, Georgia; along with four grandchildren: Ryan, Clayton, and Spencer Dement; and Courtney, and husband, John Nichols.
