Grady Campbell, 81, of Abilene, died Monday, September 22, 2008 at a local hospital. Funeral services, with Rev. David Cason officiating, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in the Potosi Cemetery.
Born in Vernon, Texas, on August 30, 1927, Grady was born the son of the late John Henry Campbell and Carrie (Day) Campbell. In 1932, Grady moved to Abilene from Vernon. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. On July 11, 1992, Grady married Marie Taylor in Coke County. He was a member of Broadview Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jimmy Campbell, one daughter, Christine Rogers, one brother, Lloyd Leon Campbell, and one sister, Dorothy Ellen Lee.
Grady is survived by his wife, Marie Dutton Campbell, of Abilene; one son, Larry Campbell and his wife Eileen, of Bastrop, Texas; two step-sons, Claude Dutton and his wife Ruby, Arthur Dutton and his wife Shirley; one step-daughter, Gladys Rossitter and her husband Roy; one brother, Johnny Campbell, Jr. and his wife Mary, of Austin; one sister, Mary B. Adkins, of Abilene; one sister-in-law, Floyce Campbell; one grandson; one granddaughter; six step-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
