Grace Elizabeth Pourron Sadler, 81, died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Mesa Springs Health Care Center in Abilene.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Abilene with Rev. Chris Turner officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to University of the Ozarks, 415 North College Avenue, Clarksville, Arkansas 72830.
Grace was born to George Frederick and Marie Baker Pourron on October 4, 1931, in Sedalia, Missouri. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1949 and University of the Ozarks in 1953.
Grace married Farren Mark Sadler on August 31, 1952 in Rogers, Arkansas. Following Farren’s military service in 1956, they moved to Abilene where they lived until the present, raising five children.
Grace worked at Hardin-Simmons University for over ten years in the Registrar’s Office and the Admissions Office.
Grace was a devoted, enthusiastic, and tireless Presbyterian. She was a charter member of John Knox Presbyterian Church in 1962 and a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in 1968. She was a ruling elder, serving at times as commissioner to area, regional, and national governing bodies. She was an ardent participant for over forty years in the church choir and hand bell group.
Grace was involved in the formation of the Celebration Scholarship Fund of Palo Duro Presbytery and served on the Fund’s Board. She was a volunteer for a number of years at the Presbyterian Medical Care Mission and served on the Mission’s Board.
Grace was an avid reader. She was an accomplished seamstress, keeping her daughters and their Barbie dolls in new dresses. She loved wildflowers and could name any one she saw.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Marie Pourron and brother-in-law Charles Templin. She is survived by her husband Farren, son Mark of Abilene, daughter Elizabeth Sisk and husband Rob of Fort Worth, son Andrew of Reno, Nevada, son Timothy and wife Melva of Corsicana, daughter Susan Sadler Gist of Arlington, sister Katherine Templin of San Antonio, brother-in-law James Sadler of Little Rock, Arkansas, and sister-in-law Gloria Musgrave Sadler of Duncanville. She is also survived by grandchildren Ashlee, Raleigh, and Brooks Sadler, Tyler and Parker Sisk, and several nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.
