Grace Maxine Duryea, 87, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on October 14, 2013 in Haskell, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 17 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, with the Reverend Herb Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Grace was born in Abilene, Texas to Tully Hardin and Rena Dunn Hardin. She graduated from Abilene High School. Grace married Norman Edward “Rusty” Duryea on March 23, 1947 in Del Ray Beach, Florida. She worked in retail sales and was an accomplished seamstress. She was a member of the Priscilla Sunday School Class at Abilene First Baptist Church, the Abilene Chorale, and the wheelchair chorus at Wisteria Assisted Living. She also delivered Meals on Wheels. Grace had a wonderful sense of humor and immensely enjoyed practical jokes and playing Mexican Train.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband Norman Duryea, her sister Ruth Ciccolini, and her two brothers William E. “Boyce” and Elmer E. “Ted” Hardin.
She is survived by three children: son Ed (Cindy) Duryea of Beaufort, SC, daughter Pam (Bob) Aycock of Haskell, TX, and son Keith (Mary) Duryea of San Angelo, TX; grandchildren Katy Duryea (Luke Nemuras), Huntley (Gloria) Duryea, Jason Aycock, Amy Aycock (Brad) Brazell, Angela Aycock (Cale) Parson, Taylor Duryea, and Amanda Duryea (Jake) Bathman; and two great-grandchildren Kaylee Duryea and Grant Brazell.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
