Gloria Marcella McGlasson

Gloria Marcella McGlasson, 84, died Sunday, January 16, 2011, at an Abilene medical center. Born in Abilene, Texas, on March 15, 1926, Gloria was the daughter of Anna K. (Lyons) and Albert Haile, and a lifelong resident of Abilene. She was a founding member of Faith Baptist Church where she was a pre-school teacher in the church Day Care Program. She also taught Sunday School and played the organ. Known as "Grandmommie" and "Aunt Gloro", she was loved by all and loved the names by which she was known. Her three great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Newton McGlasson in 1972; daughter, Patti Weatherly in 2010; parents; and sister, Anna Frances Haile. Gloria is survived by two grandchildren, Trisha Morris and her family of Seal Beach, California, and Rusty Weatherly and his family of Sherman, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Tristan Morris, Sage Weatherly and Zane Weatherly; one brother, Albert Haile, Jr. and wife Shirley of Abilene; two nieces, Michelle Haile and Brenda Haile; and two nephews, Wesley Haile and his family and Roy Haile and his family. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 22, at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Steven Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Rusty Weatherly, Brad Morris, Albert Haile, Jr., Wesley Haile, Roy Haile, Tyler Haile, Micah Haile and Cody Haile.
