Glenna Harber Mangrum, of Abilene, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at a local hospital. Funeral services, with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2008 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. There is no set visitation.
April 24, 1919, Glenna was born in Abilene, Texas to the late M.L. Harber and Eva (Clack) Harber. She graduated from Abilene High School and Draughan's Business College. Glenna married Robert E. Mangrum, Jr. on April 3, 1943. He preceded her in death on September 1, 1989. She lived in Richardson, Texas for 25 years, before returning to Abilene in 1980. Glenna was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Mangrum, Jr., and her sister, Mabel Archambault in 2006. Glenna is survived by her son, Dr. [Lt. Col. (Ret.) Army] Robert G. Mangrum and his wife Cheryl, of Early, Texas; her daughter, Marita J. Mangrum Richards and her husband Melvin, of Allen, Texas; and one grandson, Thomas M. Richards, of San Angelo.
