Glenn E. Skipper, 85, died Thursday, July 13 in an Abilene hospital. A graveside service, with Reverend David Cason officiating, is set for 3:00 P.M. Saturday, July 15, 2006 in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Glenn was born June24, 1921 in Callahan County to Thomas M. and Ella Vestal Skipper, pioneer Taylor County residents. He was a farmer in the Elmdale community most all of his life and served in the Navy during WW II. Glenn married Ettie Hodges on June 3, 1947 in San Angelo, Texas. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ettie, on November 16, 1979; an infant son, Tommy Glenn Skipper; his parents; two brothers, Joseph Allen and Erby A. Skipper; three sisters, Edna Moore Jonas, Gladys Walker and Iva Jewell Marshall.
Survivors include: a sister, Mamie Ruth "Skip" Horn of Houston; three brothers, Leonard and Elvis Skipper of Abilene and Bill Skipper of Carlsbad, NM; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
