Glenda Scarborough, 64, of Eastland, died Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. She fought a courageous battle with cancer, never complaining or second guessing the plan that the Lord had for her.
Born in Cisco, Texas on August 10, 1948, she was the daughter of Mary (Hunt) and Simon R. Alexander. She had been a longtime Abilene resident, but lived in Eastland, Texas the past three years. She worked as a bookkeeper and was a member of the Church of Christ. Glenda loved bowling, golf, shuffleboard, karaoke and dancing. She was a member of the American Legion in Abilene and V F W in Eastland.
Glenda was a loving mother and grandmother, wife, daughter, and sister. She was a mother to everyone with whom she came in contact.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, David Snyder, in 1992; parents; brother, Will Alexander; and two sisters, Mary "Sissy" Yates and Betty Butler.
Glenda is survived by her husband, Randy Scarborough of Eastland; three daughters and their husbands, Pamela Higgs and Steven and Jamie Roberts and Thomas all of Abilene, and Linda Fields and Terry of Ovalo; stepson, Russell Scarborough and wife Jodi of Lubbock; stepdaughter, Pamela Tucker and husband Archie of Abilene; two brothers and their wives, Sonny Alexander and Betty Ann of Benbrook, and Charles Alexander and Jennifer of Cisco; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 8, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, October 7, at the funeral home.
