Geraldine Aldredge

1926 — March 4, 2018

Geraldine "Jerrie" Aldredge passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 4, 2018 in Canton, Texas at the age of 92. Jerrie was born in Lubbock, Texas on March 1, 1926. She graduated from high school in Portsmouth, Virginia. She married Leland Edward Aldredge, on November 20, 1948 in Abilene. She was a secretary for Flournoy Plumbing Company from 1976-1989. She volunteered at Hendrick Medical Center from 1993-2013. She was a former general secretary for Sunday School at South Side Baptist Church where she was an active member for over 50 years. Jerrie was loved dearly and will be remembered by family and friends as a devoted wife to Leland Edward Aldredge who preceded her in death in April 1993; as a loving mother to Cheryl Aldredge Bridgefarmer and her husband Paul Bridgefarmer; as a caring and fun grandmother to Daniel Bridgefarmer and Renee Bridgefarmer Smith and her husband Brandon Smith; and as a loving great-grandmother to Cooper Smith and Harrison Smith. She was affectionally known as "Handma". Her smile, laugh, and dedication to family will be missed by all. In addition to her husband, Jerrie was preceded in death by her mother, father and sister. A visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00PM Thursday, March 8, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Graveside services will be held at 10:00AM Friday, March 9 in Elmwood Memorial Park.
