Gerald Stephens, 87, passed into eternal life on Friday, June 23, 2017 in Abilene, Texas.
Gerald was born on March 9, 1930, near Lawn, Texas in South Taylor County, the fourth of five children of Claude Edward and Linnie Ada Stephens. He married Minnie Loyce Wellborn on April 21, 1978. He was co-owner and operator of Stephens Martin Paving with partner Tim Martin of Tuscola for 26 years before retiring at age 70.
He was preceded in death by both parents and all of his brothers Harold, Weldon, and Donald, and sister Eunice.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Minnie Loyce Stephens of Abilene; one daughter Cheryl Adams and husband Dennis of Abilene; three sons, Edward and wife Andera of Lubbock, Alan of Abilene, and Randy and wife Tyra of Abilene; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Survivors also include two stepdaughters, Gayla Ebeier and husband John of Austin, and Loni Hamilton and husband Tom of Tomball.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. The graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 26, in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Reed Justus officiating
