Georgia Buckner

Georgia Fay Buckner of Lake Forrest, Illinois and the past 15 years Abilene, Texas, passed away on October 13, 2022, in Abilene, Texas.  

Georgia was born in Chicago, Illinois to Tom and Florence Marrott on May 5th. She graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.  She was certified to teach Kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as Special Education.  On December 26, 1971, she married the love of her life, James Buckner in Chicago, Illinois.  She worked as a teacher at Holy Cross Catholic School before staying home to raise her two children, Jimmy, and Krissy.  After the children were older, she went back to work as a realtor in Lake Forrest, Illinois.  Georgia will be remembered for her vibrant personality, her love for her family and friends and her love of life. 

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Florence Marrott.

Georgia is survived by her husband, Jim; son, Jimmy and his wife, Kathy; daughter, Krissy; and grandson, Preston.
