George Byron Wright

George Byron Wright of Abilene, Texas, age 87, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 3, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Funeral services will be 9:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. George was born to George and Rachel Wright on November 22, 1928 at Ira, Texas. He married Mary Frances Savell on January 17, 1953. George and Mary's father were partners in a wholesale-retail gas company. After his father-in-law passed away, George ran the business himself for several years. George was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 63 happy years, Mary Wright; two daughters, Betty Sue Smith and husband David of Georgetown, Texas, and Dee Ann Clements and husband Clyde of McAllen, Texas; grandchildren, Corissa Rossow and Tod of Victoria, Texas and Ashley Harry and husband Tim of Odessa, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Seth Harry, Levi Harry, Micah Harry, and Kellen Rossow The family expresses many thanks to Dr. Goodman and the nurses on floors 3 and 7 and Hospice at Hendrick Medical Center.
