George W. Oden, III, 43, of Abilene, died Friday, October 22, 2010, in Amarillo, Texas.
Born in Abilene, Texas on December 10, 1966, George was the son of Lottie Margaret (Goss) and George Washington Oden, Jr. He was a lifelong Abilene resident and a Baptist. He was employed by Rentech Boiler Systems as a welder.
George loved spoiling his nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed by all. He knew no strangers and he made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
George was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Brandy Michelle Oden; and grandparents, George and Minnie Oden and Albert and Opal Goss.
He is survived by two brothers, Brian Oden and wife Kristi of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, and David Oden and wife Shandra of Abilene; nephews, Jake Oden, Kyle Oden and Cort Chapman; nieces, Taylor Chapman and Dallas Oden; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 25, in The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., in Abilene, with Rev. David Cason officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Doug Gideon, Brent Bassinger, Stacey Bassinger, Jerry Lambert, Mason Krause and Bill Peterson.
